Memorial services for Mr. Glen J. Nelson, Sr. will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Alexandria, Louisiana with the Reverend’s Willie Dunkley and Monty Bower officiating, under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana.

Mr. Nelson, age 67, of Alexandria, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on Tuesday, September 19, 2016 at his residence.

Glen was born June 12, 1949 in Pineville, Louisiana. He served in the United States Army from 1968-1973, and served in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the C.I.T. team at Central Louisiana State Hospital for a number of years. His final employment was spent delivering pizza for Dominoes’ Pizza in Pineville for several years.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Nelson; father, Roosevelt “Monk” Green; three brothers, Ronald James Green, Carlos Green and Robert Earl Nelson; one sister, Dorothy Williams all of Alexandria, Louisiana.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Nelson of Alexandria; daughters, Stephanie Jones, Valerie Nelson Sewell (James) of Alexandria, Tewanna Williams Sarpy (Tony) of Alexandria and Brandi Gray Jowers (Darren) of Pineville; sons, Roderick Williams (Shakita) of Shreveport, Glen J. Nelson, Jr. (Mikala) of Pineville, Jarmaine Nelson and Patrick Coleman of Alexandria, Christopher Gray of Pineville, Jason Gray and Brian Gray of Alexandria; fifteen grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sisters, Carolyn Faye Nelson, Valerie Nelson Stafford (Arthur) and Renita Davis (Jermaine) all of Alexandria; brothers Jerry Nelson, Jerry Nelson (Latrice), Roosevelt Green and Burnell Green all of Alexandria; also survived by a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; his “brother from another mother”, Jeffery Mason of Alexandria.

The Nelson family would like to extend their deepest appreciation and gratitude for the Compassionate Care Hospice family for the wonderful care given to Mr. Nelson, as well as the love, support, and assistance given to the Nelson family during Glen’s advanced illness.
