Funeral services for Mr. Richard “Pete” Van Veckhoven will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 26, 2017 at Liberty Christian Church, Aloha, Louisiana with Reverend’s Leonard Free, Scott Tilton and Trey Lewis officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday at Liberty Christian Church from 1:00 p.m. until services at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be in St. Rose Cemetery, Aloha, Louisiana, under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana.

Mr. Van Veckhoven, age 79, of Pineville, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on Friday, March 24, 2016 at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital, Alexandria, Louisiana.

Mr. Van Veckhoven proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. He was loving husband, step-father, step-grandfather and step great grandfather. He always answered the call for help from anyone. He was a big supporter of Liberty Christian Church and was a “Big Man with a Bigger Heart”. He will be missed by many who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Rose Van Veckhoven; two brothers, Francis Van Veckhoven, Jr. and Don Van Veckhoven; one sister, Mary Lou Raney.

He is survived by the love of his life, Nora Jones Van Veckhoven of Pineville; one step-daughter, Charlene Fredieu Pinder of Montgomery; two step-sons, Larry Fredieu (Keli) and Craig Fredieu (Pam) all of Montgomery; five step-grandchildren and one very special grandson, Britt Fredieu; six step-great-grandchildren; also survived by two very special longtime friends, Bro. Leonard Free and Howard Dennis.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Pinder, Chris Pinder, Jarrod Pinder, Britt Fredieu, Howard Dennis and Earl Tullos; honorary pallbearers will be Tanner Fredieu and Dawson Howie.
