Obituary for Josephine Lindsay (Poore)

Josephine Lindsay (Poore)
Funeral services for Mrs. Josephine Poore Lindsay will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at the Pentecostals of Alexandria in the G.A. Mangun Center. Visitation will be at 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 10:00 a.m. with Sister Vesta Mangun officiating, under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home of Ball, Louisiana.

Mrs. Lindsay, age 83 of Alexandria, Louisiana entered eternal rest on April 12, 2017, surrounded by her loving family.

Born January 11, 1934 in Lake City, Tennessee, the only girl of three. She stayed in the beautiful hills of the Smoky Mountains until marriage in 1953. She started attending The United Pentecostal Church on the corner of 16th and Day Street in 1958, where she was a member of the church choir. She had to move a few times due to her husband’s military career, but always returned to her beloved church. The church is now the Pentecostals of Alexandria.

She was a fun loving Christian wife, mother, mother-in-law, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. Always lending an ear and giving you part of her heart. Always wanting to cook for you and wanting you to be part of her day from feeding her goldfish, painting, remodeling, shopping and going to the zoo.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Lindsay, Sr.; mother, Elizabeth Alford Poore; father, Alonzo Poore; brother, Charles Poore.

She is survived by two sons, Thomas Lindsay (Sandra) of Pineville and Patrick Lindsay (Kristin) of Celebration, Florida; six granddaughters, Lauren, Corbi, Caila, Ashton, Braedon and Payton; two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Micah; one brother, Harold Poore of Ohio.

Pallbearers will be her family and extended family, Thomas Lindsay, Jr., Patrick Lindsay, Mark Mann, Jason Covey, Phillip Walters and Doug Oliver.

Thanks to her granddaughter, Corbi Lindsay Walters and the employees of the Regency House for such wonderful care.

In lieu of flowers, please see a donation in her name to the Pentecostals of Alexandria.

A private family burial will follow the service.
