Funeral services for Mrs. Lillie Ruth Childress will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 in the Chapel of Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana with Reverend Maurice Dugas officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Ball, Louisiana, under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home of Ball, Louisiana.

Mrs. Childress, age 86, of Pineville, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on Friday, April 14, 2017 at the Lexington House, Alexandria, Louisiana, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Childress retired as a nurse after 20 years of service at Central State Hospital, Pineville, Louisiana. She was a loving mother and grandmother, she was the center of her family. She was a woman of the Baptist Faith and loved being outdoors, fishing or working in her yard. She will be missed by many.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James “Sonny” Monroe Childress.

Ruth is survived by one son, James “Jimmy” Monroe Childress, II (Cheryl) of Virginia; two daughters, Lisa Antley (Jeff Salter) of Bentley and Renee Nugent (Rickey) of Pollock; one sister, Leta Melder of Houston, Texas; sister-in-law, Sylvia Willis of Ringgold, LA; ten grandchildren, Dustin Barton, Delisha Smith, Joey Dugas, Jaidyn Dugas, Cole Childress, Reese Childress, Rance Childress, Jordan Childress, Ryan Childress, Cory Childress; great grandchildren, Tristen Barton, Kaili Barton, Makenzie Smith, Mason Smith and several more.

Friends may visit on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff of the Lexington House for their care and compassion for Mrs. Childress.
