Life Story for David Davenport
David Irwin Davenport Jr.
Mr. Davenport, age 96 of Alexandria, Louisiana entered eternal rest on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Rapides Regional in Alexandria surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. David was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Mr. Davenport served as a LT. in the Navy during WWII. He was also a Louisiana College graduate right before entering the War. Sometime after the War, Mr. Davenport started an office supply store, R&D Sales. It was there that Mr. David found his hobby in his work and serving his customers. Mr. Davenport’s passion was his customers, whom he loved. He also served as a Deacon at Emanuel Baptist for many years.
David Davenport is preceded in death by his wife; Bobbie Davenport, his daughter; Susan Herring, and grandson; Wes Davenport.
Mr. David is survived by his son; Rodney Davenport of Deville, his sister; Edith Rich of North Carolina, his grandchildren; Amanda Johnston of Alexandria, Roxanne Davenport of Alexandria, Lisa and Brent Ciatti of Dallas, and Lindsey Dungan of Shreveport, his great grandchildren; Nathan and Adam Ciatti of Dallas, Braxton Johnston and Ayla Johnston of Pineville.
The Davenport family would like to say special thanks to the staff at Matthews Memorial Health Care for their patient and compassionate care for Mr. Davenport.
