Life Story for LaNell Jean Hilborn (Cupples)

LaNell Jean  Hilborn (Cupples)
LaNell Jean Cupples Deville Hilborn, age 77 of Pineville, passed away on June 13, 2017 at The Oaks Care Center. Memorial services will be held at Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana on Friday June 16, 2017 at 4:00pm. Burial will be at New Hope Cemetery in Deville, Louisiana.

LaNell was born on June 26, 1939 in Pineville. She lived in Central Louisiana most of her childhood and graduated from Bolton High School. As an adult, she lived in Dallas, her second hometown, for many years. She worked as a proofreader and layout artist in the printing industry. Upon retiring, she returned to Pineville to be near her family.

LaNell was remarkably strong, fiercely independent woman. She was a recovering alcoholic, proudly sober for many years. She was a keen observer of human nature. She could tell a good story, and had a thousand of them. She could write a good story too, and was a frequent contributor to the Smiley Anders column in the Baton Rouge Advocate. LaNell was a loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys, New Orleans Saints, and the Texas Rangers. She loved fishing, reading, crossword puzzles, music, and dancing. LaNell loved life.

LaNell will be remembered with love by her daughters Elonda Deville Green of Baton Rouge, Elisa Deville Bermudez and husband Francisco of Pineville, Kimberly Lynn Henderson of Dallas, and her son, Elvy Gene “Bopper” Deville Jr of Pineville; her grandchildren David Deville (Katelyn), Daniel Deville, Kara Philen, Selena Philen, Lacy Gotreaux (Kevin), Jackie Kacie Hollingsworth (Bobby), Jonathan Deville (Jessica), Jessica Cook (John Paul), Krystal Bermudez, Jacquie Perkins (Jody), Amanda McCoy (Thomas), Brandon Brown, Shae Lynn Evans, Dustin Evans, 32 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Also her brothers, Wilson Cupples and wife Norma of Bay City, Rodney Cupples of Gardner, Phillip Cupples of Bay City: and her sisters Rachel Cupples of Baton Rouge, Faye Cupples of Ball, Brenda French and husband Ray of Baton Rouge, and Vivian Cupples-Harris and husband Rusty of Baton Rouge.

She is preceded in death by her parents Harold Cupples and Bertie Cupples Kilpatrick, husbands Gene Deville, Johnny Hilborn, and Henry Hilborn; daughter Michelle Deville, and sister Raye Cupples Austin.

Pallbearers honored to serve will be David Deville, Johnathan Deville, John Paul Cook, Devin Hollingsworth, Jody Perkins, and Thomas McCoy Jr.
Visitation for LaNell will be held on Friday, June 16, 2017 at Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana from 1:00 p.m. until service time at 4:00 p.m.
