Obituary for William Eugene "Billy" Slayter

Mr. William “Billy” Eugene Slayter, age 65, of Montgomery, Louisiana, was called home to the Lord on Sunday, July 16, 2017 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

Billy was a Deacon at Victory Church, loved reading the Bible and about history. He loved playing checkers and throwing frisbee with his grandchildren and his dog, Killer. Billy enjoyed fishing, growing vegetables and herbs in his garden. He was a part of the Plumbers and Steamfitters Local 247 and Operating Engineer Local 406 Unions.

He is preceded in death by his parents, A.L. and Bessie Opal Slayter; one daughter, Jessica Ann Slayter; one sister, JoAnn Tarver.

He is survived by his wife, Joan Annette Slayter and he was the proud father of Dawn “Punkin” Coutee (Delton Ray), Amanda Lynn Slayter, Erin Mahaly Beaubouef (William Mitchell) and Megan Elizabeth Prestridge (Kristopher Wayne); one brother, Richard A. Slayter (Brenda Rose); one sister, Cecelia S. Feazell of Montgomery; grandchildren, William E. Slayter, Dakota W. Coutee, Cameron S. and Corbin G. Beaubouef and Trevon J. Meche.

Philippians 4: 11-13 11 Not that I speak in regard to need, for I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content: 12 I know how to be abased, and I know how to abound. Everywhere and in all things I have learned both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.
13 I can do all things through Christ[b] who strengthens me.
