Obituary for Ruby Jo Westergard (Vicknair)

Ruby Jo  Westergard (Vicknair)
Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Vicknair Westergard will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Alexandria, Louisiana with Bro. David Sanders officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Ball, Louisiana, under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home and Crematory, Ball, Louisiana.

Mrs. Westergard, age 80, of Ball, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at her son’s home in Tioga, Louisiana, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Ruby Westergard was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She was very active in giving to her church and to the Scouts. Mrs. Ruby enjoyed being involved with her family’s genealogy. She also enjoyed dancing in her younger years and was a great cook. Her most famous dish, in the opinion of her grandchildren, was her steak and gravy. Mrs. Westergard also enjoyed sewing, knitting baby blankets, cross stitching, and crocheting. She will forever be missed by those that loved her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Sylvestre Albert Vicknair and Vermie Nugent Vicknair; brother, Henry Norman Vicknair; and grandson, Bradley S. Westergard.

She is survived by her loving husband of 63 ½ years, Jim Westergard of Ball; two sons, Lamar Westergard (Angela) of Murfreesboro, TN and Mike Westergard (Stacy) of Tioga; one daughter, Vicky Westergard of Provo, UT; one sister, Evelyn Lawyer (Richard) of Silver City, NM; fourteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; special cousin, Pat Boucher; numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Alexandria, Louisiana at 10:00 a.m.
