Georgia Juanita Draper
Funeral services for Mrs. Georgia Juanita Draper will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 7, 2018 in the Chapel of Gallagher Funeral Home in Ball, Louisiana. Burial will be in Big Creek Cemetery in Pollock, Louisiana, under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home and Crematory, Ball, Louisiana.

Mrs. Draper, age 94, entered eternal rest on Saturday, March 31, 2018 in Sunbury, Ohio.

On August 27, 1923 a very special baby was born and her name was Georgia Juanita McBride. She would become the oldest of eight siblings. Being the oldest, she helped each new addition that came along. She also worked in the fields and helped in the kitchen. This set the tone for the rest of her life. She was always a hard worker with a heart and hands to serve others.
As a young adult her life took a dramatic change one day while she was taking a walk with a friend. They met two soldiers walking down the road toward them. Juanita made the remark “I hope I don’t get the short one”. That short one became her husband of 74 years, Howard Draper. Their home was always the gathering place because everyone was always welcome and no one ever left hungry.

Juanita was a faithful member of Corinth Baptist Church where she was the oldest member.
Mrs. Draper is preceded in death by her husband, Howard Draper; parents, Clarence and Ava Hataway McBride; brothers, W.C. Buck McBride and Robert McBride; sisters, Pat Garner, Bobby Richmond, and Betty Brunson; and several sister and brother-in-laws.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathryn Tilford (Richard) of Ohio; son, Howard Draper, Jr. (Tracy Fontenot) of Louisiana; grandchildren, Heather Prindle (Tim), Mark Tilford (Debby), Nathan Tilford (Rochelle), Joshua Tilford, and Harlee Draper; great-grandchildren, Colin and Liam Prindle, Raven Tilford, Leah and Caleb Tilford; brother, Kenneth McBride (Joann); sister, Louise Floyd; sisters-in-law, Gladys Strait and Mary Draper; brother-in-law, Bill Draper; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at Gallagher Funeral Home and Crematory in Ball, Louisiana, from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m.
