Life Story for George W. Sanders

George W.  Sanders
Funeral services for Mr. George W. Sanders will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 9, 2018 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, 171 Pleasant Hill Road, Pollock, Louisiana with Reverend Casey Johnson officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana. Visitation for Mr. Sanders will be on Sunday, July 8, 2018 at Gallagher Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Mr. Sanders, age 71, entered eternal rest on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at his residence in Pollock, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. George Sanders was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Mr. Sanders was a Vietnam veteran, having proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church for over 46 years and served there as a Sunday School teacher for over 40 years. He loved gardening, was passionate about God’s Word and never met a stranger. He will forever be missed by those that knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Silton and Tena Sanders; step-father, Glen Horton; brother, Willie Sanders; and step-sister, Patricia Acosta.

Mr. Sanders is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Myrtle Phillips Sanders of Pollock; a daughter, Maela Tanigawa (Shane) of Ontario, California; son, Jonathan Sanders of Pollock; two sisters, Millie McGee (Prentis) and Rita Achee (Ray) all of Longview, Texas; two brothers, Jerry Sanders of Benton, AR and Gordon Horton (Melvina) of Elmer and two grandsons, Preston and Justice Tanigawa.

Pallbearers honored to serve are Terry Dunn, Jason Anthony, Glen Horton, Jason Horton, Andrew Horton and Wendell Horton. Honorary pallbearers will be the Adult Men’s Sunday School Class of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
