Obituary for Nancy Marie Affeltranger

Mrs. Nancy Marie Frankman Affeltranger, age 77, of Pineville, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on Friday, May 31, 2019, at Rapides Regional Medical Center, in Alexandria, Louisiana. She was born on September 12, 1941, the daughter of Leroy and Helen (Teti) Frankman.

Funeral services for Mrs. Affeltranger will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Gallagher Funeral Home in Ball, Louisiana, with Deacon Deloach officiating. Visitation for Mrs. Affeltranger will be on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at Gallagher Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Mrs. Affeltranger was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and sister. She loved teaching science and had a great passion for Archeology. She was the past President of the Louisiana Archeological Society. For many years she ran the Tioga High School Archeology Club introducing youth to the fascinating world of Archeology. She was also the Tioga Indian Mascot for Homecoming Pep Rally's and enjoyed interacting with her students. Nancy also helped to get Poverty Point put on the World Heritage Site and helped put the #75 Tyrone Plantation of Alexandria on the National Register of Historic Places. Mrs. Affeltranger taught at Fairmont Senior High School in Fairmont, West Virginia, Menard and Tioga High Schools in Louisiana. She enjoyed cooking for her friends and family and was especially fond of Italian food. Nancy enjoyed making beaded jewelry and Indian Dream-catchers. Mrs. Affeltranger was a faithful and longtime member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Tioga. She will forever be missed by those that loved and knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Helen (Teti) Frankman; and sister, Carol Harris (David).

Mrs. Nancy Affeltranger is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Charlie Affeltranger; children, Cindy S. Cheramie (Paul) of Jennings, Timothy D. Affeltranger of Pineville, and Tammy L. Beatty (Ron) of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin; sister, Patricia McCarty (Doug) of Fairmont, West Virginia; grandchildren, Sarah Brooke Affeltranger and Cody Affeltranger of Illinois, aunt Marie Frankman of Fairmont WV, nephew David Harris and wife Lenore of Great Falls Montana, several great nephews & great niece.
