Obituary for Irma Diane Edwards (Bernard)

Funeral services for Ms. Irma B. Edwards will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 11, 2015 in the Chapel of Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana with Pastor Chester Hills officiating. Interment will be in Dark Neal Cemetery, Boyce, Louisiana, under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana.

Mrs. Edwards, age 72, of Alexandria, Louisiana, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, December 7, 2015 at her residence, following a brief illness.

Her kindness and loving soul flowed to all she met. She was a mother to five children and one granddaughter. She retired from Pinecrest State School after 14 years of service to the children. Her hobbies in life were fishing, farming, sewing and reading. Her life of service was to God, her children, grandchildren, and family.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Dolly Nichols Bernard; grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Thomas Jefferson Nichols; many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Those left to cherish her memory are her two sons, Charles D. Rousseau, Jr. and Thomas D. Rousseau (Terri Landry) all of Alexandria; four daughters, Rhonda D. Benjamin of New Iberia, Belinda D. Guidroz of New Iberia, Gabreiale D. Loden (Patrick) of Alexandria; granddaughter, Dolly E. Rousseau of Alexandria; one brother, John David Bernard (Cherie) of Shreveport; fourteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren.

Friends may call at Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana on Thursday, December 10, 2015 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday, December 11, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.

Pallbearers will be Charles Rousseau, Jr., Daniel Rousseau, Thomas Rousseau, CJ Benjamin, Johnny Bernard and Patrick Loden; honorary pallbearers will be Andrew Moreau, Bryan Klibert and Jordan Morgan.

The family would like to give thanks and blessings to Compassionate Care Hospice and Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Assemblies of God, Dorothy Scott Missionary to the Deaf, 2717 North MacArthur Dr., Alexandria, LA 71303.
