Obituary for James Barton Glass

Mr. James Barton Glass, age 77, of Pineville, Louisiana, escaped this mortal realm on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at his residence.

Mr. Glass owned the Corner Store in Pineville for many years until his retirement in 1998. Bart was an avid fan of football, especially LSU, the Saints, and the Cowboys. He loved anything “free” and cats. If there were free cats…forget about it. We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from Bart, among them: how to do a kip-up (his ultimate measure of a real man) and thread a worm on a hook. A voracious reader, if Bart asked you, “Did you know…” chances are you didn’t. He never tired of learning more, except about technology. He knew how many different kinds of sharks there are in the ocean, but could not send a text.

He is preceded in death by his lovely wife, Dona Glass; parents, Bennie Glass and Ruby Delahoussaye; sister, Bennie Austin, granddaughter, Rachel Escue; brother-in-law, Ray McLaurin. There is a beautiful family reunion happening in heaven right now!

He will be greatly missed by his two daughters, Jessica Rud (John) of Pineville, Jencie Escue (Mark) of Bartlett, TN; two sisters, Geraldine McLaurin of Alexandria and Betty Turner of Oklahoma City, OK; three grandchildren, Jaelea Luker, Sydney Rud and Jamie Escue (Gus Stevens); and a host of loving nieces and nephews, and longtime friends.

Memorial services for Mr. Glass will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2018 in the Chapel of Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana, under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home and Crematory, Ball, Louisiana.

Friends may visit on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana from 12:00 p.m. until time of service.
