Obituary for Huey P. Shirley

Huey P.  Shirley
Funeral services for Mr. Huey P. Shirley will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 at the Dry Prong House of Praise, Dry Prong, Louisiana, with Reverend Kenneth Hyde officiating. Burial will follow in Liberty Chapel Cemetery, Williana, Louisiana. Visitation for Mr. Shirley will be held on Monday, April 2, 2018 from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Tuesday, April 3, 2018 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 10:00 a.m.

Mr. Shirley, age 92, of Dry Prong, Louisiana entered eternal rest on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Shirley was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He retired from Trunkline Gas Co. as Chief Equipment Operator for the Central Division. He was an avid sportsman, he loved hunting, fishing, training dogs and especially horses. Prior to Trunkline Gas Co., Huey worked in logging business and drove a 2 mule team to skid logs.

He is preceded in death his wife, Dueaine Shirley; parents, George and Lizzie Shirley; one son, Elwin Shirley; one daughter, Diane Daniels; two brothers, Charlie and Jesse Shirley; three sisters, Cary Tanner, Lucy Hay and Yvonne Hay.

He is survived by three grandsons, Rodger Shirley of Dry Prong, Jason Shirley (Connie) of Dry Prong and Clayson Coleman (Paige) of Pineville; three granddaughters, Heather Lewis of Dry Prong, Sabrina Coker of Dry Prong and Brandy Shirley of Connecticut; eight great-grandchildren, Hayden P. Shirley, Conner Coker, Waylan Lewis, Destiny Coker, Piper Shirley, Karaline Shirley, Alexandria Shirley, Callen Coleman; a host of nieces, nephews and family.
