Life Story for Elsie Lemore Stroud (Thompson)

Elsie Lemore  Stroud (Thompson)
Mrs. Elsie Lemore Stroud, age 90, of Alexandria, Louisiana entered eternal rest on Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at Matthews Memorial Health Care Center in Alexandria, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services for Mrs. Stroud will be on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Gallagher Funeral Home with Pastor Ken Satcher and Reverend Walter Layssard officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Wheeling, Louisiana (off Hwy 34 in Winn Parish).Visitation for Mrs. Stroud will be on Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Gallagher Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Gallagher Funeral Home and Crematory of Ball, Louisiana.

Mrs. Lemore Stroud was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She was a resident of Alexandria since 1956. Ms. Lemore was a waitress and bartender for Suburban Gardens restaurant for over 54 years. Prior to working at Suburban Gardens, Mrs. Stroud worked for Leroy’s restaurant and managed Heart City Courts for over eighteen years. Mrs. Stroud was a hard working woman who loved her family. The last sentence she wrote in her funeral prearrangement said “ We had some good days and some bad days but we met lots of nice people and made some good friends.” Those that knew and loved her affectionately called her “Mrs. More” or “Aunt More.” She will forever be missed by those that loved and knew her.

Mrs. Stroud is preceded in death by her husband, James Henry Stroud; parents, Charles and Euna Thompson; two daughters, Carolyn Staples and Delores Ridenour; one great-granddaughter, Lemore Marie Staples; two nieces, Vickie Irene Doherty and Donna Denise Dyson; sister, Joy Faye Boeta.

She is survived by a daughter, Madeline Stroud of Alexandria; two sisters, Garnell Doherty of Winnfield and Shirley Edington Morrill of Montgomery; six grandchildren, Keith Staples, Debbie Ortega, Kevin Staples, Karl Staples, James Thomas Carter Ridenour and Dawn Anne Strauser; twelve great-grandchildren, Hanna, Erica, Kimberley, Christian, Stephen, Aurora, Adrianna, Mia, Rebekah, Roman, Annelise and KayeAnne.

Pallbearers honored to serve are Keith Staples, Stephen Staples, Karl Staples, Harold Staples, Don Edington and James TC Ridenour. Honorary Pallbearer will be Art Shelton.
