Mr. Harold Matthews Smiley, age 85, entered eternal rest on Monday, July 2, 2018, at his residence in Bentley, Louisiana, surrounded by loving family. Funeral services for Mr. Smiley will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 8, 2018 in the chapel of Gallagher Funeral Home and Crematory, in Ball, Louisiana. Burial will follow in Lone Pine Cemetery in Bentley, Louisiana, under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home and Crematory.

Visitation for Mr. Smiley will be on Saturday evening, July 7, 2018 at Gallagher Funeral Home and Crematory, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Mr. Harold Smiley was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and working in his garden. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a Firefighter. After he retired from the Air Force he worked at the VA in the Civil Service Department. Mr. Smiley liked to tease people and loved his grandbabies. He will forever be missed by those that loved and knew him.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Leona “Judy” Smiley; parents, Henry Smiley and Nettie Shrewsbury Smiley; 3 sisters; 5 brothers; and son in law, John Linzay.

Mr. Harold Smiley is survived by daughters, Julia Paul of Bentley, Resa Burton (Pete) of Ball, and Rita Linzay of Lecompte; sons, Glenn Smiley (Terry) of Colfax and Robert Smiley (Pattie) of Hallsville, Kentucky; sister, Louise Ruddell of Sellersburg, Indiana; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
