Mr. Ernest Scott, Jr., age 68, of Boyce, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, December 26, 2018, at his residence. Funeral services for Mr. Scott will be held on Wednesday January 2, 2019 at Mt. Herman Baptist Church, 9151 Hwy. 1 North, Lena, Louisiana 71447 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Leesville under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home and Crematory. Friends may come for visitation on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at the church.

We will always remember.

First Sergeant Retired Ernest Scott Jr. [23 years] who enlisted in what will undoubtedly be his most courageous reconnaissance mission on Wednesday December 26, 2018.

As a Vietnam veteran, we will remember him for his bravery, strength, and patriotism. Through his work in juvenile and adult corrections, we will remember him for his candor, compassion, and persistence.

His family though, will remember him simply as husband, son, brother, uncle, dad, and Paw Paw. We will remember the man who would courageously modeled his journey in faith and walked as such in all he did. We will remember a man who was stern but gentle in the lessons he sometimes struggled to teach us. Like always wash your hands before touching anything in the kitchen, do not start something you are not willing to finish, only hit your sibling if they can hit you back, how a movie day snuggled up together or a quite fishing trip are often the best medicine and to never forget who is fighting in your corner.

As a man who loved and was loved by many, there are three truths that Scott taught us that we will remember most of all. First, that Heavens not too far away. Second, that sometimes hardships are merciful blessings and third, that we can talk with him anytime.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Victoria Scott

Scott is survived by his father Ernest Scott Sr., his wife Elizabeth, his siblings: Randolph, Ricky, Shelia [and Felthers], Clara; his children: Angel, Ronald [and Rhonda], Ernest [and Sonja], Kina, John Michael, Kati [and Dan], Joshua [and Britney] and Keisha. Scott is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

At this time, his family asks for your prayers and patience.

Let me give my condolences to the family, its never easy to accept nor understand death, but let us hold onto 2nd Cor 5:8 to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. One day we will shed no more tears family. Scott has seen Aunt Victoria and Aunt Pick lol and many more. I lived next door to Scott, but I called him June, I was 16 years old and he was 20 years old. June was a protector, I remember him checking on his young cousin with love and strength. He was such a strong man, physically and mentally, yet he had a gentleness that cause me to love and respect him. I did not see him too much once he went into the military but I know he became more of what I remember him best for. Rest on June. Love Barbara
