Mrs. Ruby Welborn Atwood, age 93, of Alexandria, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on Sunday, January 13, 2019, at Naomi Heights Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Alexandria, Louisiana. Funeral services for Mrs. Atwood will be held on Wednesday January 16 , 2019, at 12:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Gallagher Funeral Home in Ball, Louisiana. Visitation for Mrs. Atwood will be on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at Gallagher Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Ball under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home and Crematory.

Mrs. Ruby Atwood was a loving mother and grandmother. She was very family oriented and enjoyed hosting family breakfasts every weekend at her home. Mrs. Atwood enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and tending to the many flower beds in her yard. She will forever be missed by those that loved and knew her.

Mrs. Atwood is preceded in death by her husband, Columbus “Smokey” Atwood; parents, Birdie Brewer and Forty Alvarado; son, R.J. Futrell, Sr.; grandsons, Christopher Atwood and Duane Atwood .

She is survived by her daughters Bonnie Swank of Alexandria and Sarah Atwood of Pineville; son, Dennis Atwood (Carol) of Florien; daughter-in-law, Diane Futrell of Pineville; sister, Elva Martin; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great great-grandchildren.
