Mr. Matthew Daniel Howerton, age 32, of Deville, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on Monday, January 14, 2019, in Catahoula, Louisiana. Friends may come for visitation on Friday, January 18, 2019 at Open Door Community Church from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services for Mr. Howerton will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 11:00 a.m at Open Door Community Church in Deville, Louisiana. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home.

Mr. Howerton was a loving husband, father, and brother. He enjoyed being in the outdoors hunting and fishing. Mr. Howerton was a talented mechanic and equipment operator. He was a generous man and always willing to help those in need. He will forever be missed by those that loved and knew him.

Mr. Howerton is preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Hubert Gauthier, Sr.; maternal grandfather, Ed Howerton; uncles, Benny Gauthier and Chad Crow.

He is survived by loving wife of 9 years, Shaina Schexnider Howerton; step-sons, Christian Schexnider and Jay Basco; granddaughter, Amelia Schexnider; father, Harvey Gauthier; mother, Mary Howerton (Jimmy); step-mother, Laura Grenz; mother-in-law, Connie Ramo (Rodney); father-in-law, Nathan Schexnider; sisters, April Howerton, Jessica Gauthier, Asha Sanders and Isabella Sanders; brother-in-law and best friend, Chris Tucker; and uncle Hubert Gauthier, Jr.
