He was born too late for the way of life he would have preferred – the Old West; and lived life according to more of the original Cowboy Code… “A real cowboy may not have the best language around but I guarantee he will stop and listen to an elder talk or open a door for a woman. He will talk to a child like his own.” He married his true love over 56 years ago and together they made a life and raised two great kids. He was a Coach and Teacher. He did talk to those kids like his own, helped mentor and challenge them to a better life. He was tough as nails as a father, but his whole world changed when the grandchildren came along and he excelled at being Pop. He will forever be our moral compass and our strength when times get hard. He lived simply, never expected anything from anyone and chose to live his life. He communed with God on the lake and river and found solace in that relationship. We know he is riding that great open sky now and living the life he was made to live – wild and free.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Benfordine McGlothlin; brother, Colonel Billy Jack McGlothlin; nephews, Mike, Scott, and Joe McGlothlin.

He is survived by loving wife of fifty-six and a half years, Julia Paulette Palmer McGlothlin; son, Rick McGlothlin (Cheryl) of Effie; daughter, Tina Linton (Allen) of Bryan, Texas; grandchildren, Ralston and Morgan McGlothlin, Kaelen Young (James), and Kristen Schocke; great grandchild, Kendall Pena; nephew, Ben McGlothlin; and a host of extended family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to First Baptist Church of Pineville.
