Obituary

Mr. Clifton Barnes Penny, Jr., age 90, of Ball, Louisiana, entered eternal rest on Monday, July 15, 2019 at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.

A Graveside service for Mr. Penny will be held on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. at the Central Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Leesville, Louisiana, with Reverend John Moore officiating and under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home.

Mr. Clifton Barnes Penny, Jr. "Penny", was born on Mother’s Day, May 12, 1929 in Newport News, Virginia. Penny met the love of his life and future bride at the age of 15. He had the fastest mile time in the state of Virginia when he graduated high school. Penny joined the US Navy in 1952 and in 1956 he joined the US Air Force, where he retired after 21 years of service. He later retired from the State of Louisiana after 15 years. Penny never met a stranger and his sense of humor and warm laugh made everyone feel at home. He was a man of many interests, talents, and hobbies. Penny was a Deacon, Sunday school teacher, and choir member. He loved all kinds of music from Puccini to Tchaikovsky to Marty Robbins. He enjoyed woodcarving, making furniture, and bird watching. Penny and Colleen traveled all over the South, square dancing. Above all else, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be forever missed by those that loved and knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifton Penny, Sr. and Irma Mae Bunch Penny.

Mr. Penny is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Colleen Moore Penny of Ball; daughters, Sharon Moore (John) of Comfort, Texas, Cheryl Wilson (Kevin) of Comfort, Texas, and Karen Brazzel (Allan) of Birmingham, Alabama; grandchildren, Katie Shumate (Fred), Beth Perry (Chris), Jared Moore, Meagan Wilson, Allison Brazzel, Sarah Brazzel, Emily Brazzel, and Matthew Brazzel.
