Obituary for Ruth Roma McCarey
Mrs. Ruth McCarey, age 96, of Alexandria, LA, entered eternal rest on Thursday, September 26, 2019 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
Graveside services for Mrs. McCarey will be on Monday, September 30, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 601 Highway 80 East, Haughton, Louisiana. Visitation for Mrs. McCarey will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Gallagher Funeral Home in Ball, Louisiana.
Mrs. McCarey was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She worked many years as a registered nurse and loved taking care of her family and friends. She enjoyed reading and loved poetry.
Mrs. McCarey was preceded in death by her husband, James A. "Keal" McCarey, a son, Patrick McCarey and a sister, Betty Dunn.
She is survived by her daughter, Erin Michelle Scharff (Frank) of Pineville, Louisiana; one son, James Michael McCarey (Mary) of North Carolina; two grandchildren, Caitlin S. Janet (Kerry) of Pineville and Benjamin Scharff (Amy) of San Antonio, TX; four great-grandchildren, Christopher Janet, Kaiah Janet, Lorelei Scharff, Tanner Scharff and a host of friends who will miss her dearly.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Gallagher Funeral Home and Crematory, Ball, LA.
