A celebration of life will be held for William Edward "Eddie" Johnson at
2:00 PM on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at HIS Church in Pineville, La.
Eddie Johnson, 67, of Pineville passed away on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at
North Oaks Hospital in Hammond, La.
Eddie is preceded in death by his parents, Merion Edward Johnson and Joyce
Aline Johnson along with his best friend and wife of 28 years, Debbye West
Eddie retired after 39 years from the Alexandria Fire Department as a 2nd
Assistant Chief . Upon retirement Eddie was able to fully pursue his
many interests and hobbies, while also teaching and sharing that love with
his son Hobie. The two of them loved fixing motorcycles and Jeeps in his shop,
cooking on the grill by the pool for family, golfing, fishing, hunting, boating,
flying drones, riding four wheelers, and most recently helping Hobie build his
The one thing Eddie loved more than these hobbies was his family. Kassidy was
daddy's little girl and nothing made him happier than watching her excel in her swim
competitions and win Nationals in cheer.
Known as Poppie to his grandchildren, Eddie would drop whatever he was doing to
play with Kennedy and Jake in the pool, teach Kennedy to shoot guns, play golf and
along with Debbye, attend her recitals and competitions as they had enjoyed for
years with Kassidy. Nothing brought him more joy than being with his children,
grandchildren, and his wife.
Those left to cherish his memory include his sons Hobie West Johnson
(Sierra), Robin Johnson (Lisa), daughter, Kassidy Ann Johnson and his
grandchildren Kennedy, Jake, Dalton and Karlee, brother Bruce Johnson (Jai) and
a host of other friends and relatives.
