Funeral services for Mr. Robert A. White will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 25, 2016 in the Chapel of Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana with Rev. Jane Conerly officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Ball, Louisiana, under the direction of Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana.

Mr. White is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Kay White Sampson and his son, Gregory Keith White.

Robert (Bob) Alston White, USAF/Ret, Rapides Parish Schools/Ret, age 84, of Ball, Louisiana departed this life for a better place on August 22, 2016. Bob was born on February 28, 1932 in St. George, West Virginia. He was the son of Alston W. White and Elva Dumire White. Robert is survived by his wife of 61 years, Bonnie J. (McDonald) White of Ball; his son, Todd White & wife Susan of Ball; his daughter-in-law, Beth Ann White; his daughter, Roberta (Robin) White Simoni & husband Michael Simoni of Jetersville, Virginia and their three children, Brian, Karina and Eric; his grandson, Joshua White & wife Lanie and their children, Nevaeh Ann and Riley Thomas and his grandson, Thomas White of San Fransisco, CA.

Robert graduated from Parsons High School in 1950 and Davis and Elkins College in Elkins, West Virginia in 1954, funding his physical education degree through hard work and uncanny skill at the game of Hearts. Upon graduation, he was commissioned into the United States Air Force as a pilot. He served from 1954 to 1975, completing tours of duty in Georgia, Texas, North Carolina, France, Louisiana, Vietnam, Germany and Montana, attaining the rank of Major and earning a masters degree +30 in education. He then taught louisiana history at Tioga Junior High for 17 years. He loved fishing, genealogy and gardening.

Friends may call at Gallagher Funeral Home, Ball, Louisiana on Wednesday, August 24, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Thursday, August 25, 2016 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
