Life Story for Michael Shelfo
Mr. Michael Shelfo, age 61, of Cotile Lake, entered eternal rest on Thursday, November 30, 2017 after a hard fought battle with cancer. He passed at home surrounded by his loving wife Karen and three amazingly wonderful children, daughter Leann and sons Kalen and Deane.
Michael grew up in Alexandria and was an extremely proud and loving father. He was also an avid outdoorsman all of his life. Without a doubt, when it came to hunting and fishing, Michael reigned supreme. He had a natural knack that made him the best anyone who knew him had ever seen. He never met a stranger and made a very special impression on everyone who knew him. Michael was truly one of a kind and will be in our memories and hearts forever.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clorine and Kelly Shelfo.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Karen Deane Shelfo; one daughter, Leann Shelfo; two sons, Kalen Shelfo and Deane Shelfo; one brother, James Shelfo (Francine); two sisters, Debbie Jennings (Mark) and Carolyn Robicheaux, cousins, nieces and nephews, wonderful friends and his best dog Barney Doodle.
Visitation for Michael will begin at noon on Monday, December 4, 2017 in the mausoleum of Alexandria Memorial Gardens. A Catholic memorial service will follow at 1:00 p.m. in the mausoleum at Alexandria Memorial Gardens.
Thank you to the doctors and staff at Hematology Oncology Life Center, especially Kayla and Kelly. Heartfelt thanks to St. Joseph’s Hospice nurse Patrick, Jena and Brian and all the wonderful staff…You all were amazing!
In lieu of flowers the family ask donations be made to The American Cancer Society or to St. Joseph’s Hospice, Alexandria, Louisiana.
