The Memorial Candle Program has been designed to help offset the costs associated with the hosting this Tribute Website in perpetuity. Through the lighting of a memorial candle, your thoughtful gesture will be recorded in the Book of Memories and the proceeds will go directly towards helping ensure that the family and friends of Hella Velotta can continue to memorialize, re-visit, interact with each other and enhance this tribute for future generations.

Thank you.

The lighting of a Memorial Candle not only provides a gesture of sympathy and support to the immediate family during their time of need but also provides the gift of extending the Book of Memories for future generations.

Stille Nacht

Hella experienced a lot of things in her life. She was a child in Germany during WW2. She starved, she went thirsty, she stole to survive and saw some of her family killed by soldiers. Years after that, she picked up her entire life and moved across an ocean to America. Throughout. it. all., she remained an optimist that was certain tomorrow would always be better than today.

The First United Methodist Church on Jackson Street had my mother sing Stille Nacht (Silent Night) for christmas services. She wasn't a great singer, but replaced skill with raw emotion. When she sung this song, you could hear the trials she'd been through and come out better on the other side and it moved you. I'm biased, I know, but her singing this song was one of the most moving experiences of my life.

I miss you and love you Mom..
